Playground Information

Mark Your Calendar!

It may seem far away but we have Spring-fever already! The ROS Playground Committee has been busy confirming dates with our contractors, suppliers, CBE, etc, to build our playground this spring.

The ground/site prep work (installation of security fence, site grading, etc) will begin in early May. Once the site is ready we will build the playground structure. We have booked Friday May 31st to Sunday June 2nd as our "build weekend" so mark your calendars. We will be looking for 40 - 50 people per day, no experience necessary (must be 18 yrs or older). The final ground work (ie: Pour-n-Place rubber pad, repairing sod where required, etc) will be finished by mid-June.

If you would like to have your name added to our list of volunteers, please email us at: ROPlaygroundcommittee@gmail.com.  So, mark your calendars for May 31-June 2 and stay tuned for more information coming soon.

Donations:
The Playground Committee (PGC) is happy to announce that we have our fundraising goal of $100 000!  We still have an account with Parks Foundation Calgary (PFC) and they will be administering tax receipts on our behalf.  If you or your company would like to make a donation please follow the instructions below:
  • Cheques are to be payable to: Parks Foundation Calgary / Royal Oak School Playground Committee or Parks Foundation Calgary with Royal Oak School Playground Committee written in the memo portion of the cheque. This ensures that the funds will be directed to our playground project and that the donation will qualify for a tax receipt
  • Tax Receipts will be issued within 10 working days of the cheque clearing the bank
  • Tax receipts will only be issued for cheques $25 and over
  • Cheques can be mailed to: Royal Oak School Playground Committee, 9100 Royal Birch Blvd. NW, Calgary, AB T3G 5R8 to the attention of ROS Playground Committee.

Thank you for your support!

What Playground Did We Choose?

After looking at numerous playgrounds by a variety of vendors the committee chose to have Habitat Systems – Landscape Structures to be our playground provider. They were chosen for the following reasons:
  • Quality: has a life time guarantee, paint will not fade, high standards for quality products
  • Innovation: playgrounds unlike any other, built to inspire creative play
  • Commitment to the Environment: in 1998, Landscape Structures became the first commercial playground equipment manufacturer in North America to be ISO 14001 certified for environmental stewardship. A donation of trees will be made to Global Releaf to offset carbon dioxide produced while manufacturing the playground.
  • Clear site lines: this specific playground has clear site lines from every angle for supervision purposes
